Jenny Morten - Tilting Bowls

Jenny Morten - Tilting Bowls

Jenny's ceramics play with the balance of the piece - each one tilting forwards or sloping backwards, precariously leaning and yet stable on its base. Bands of colour wrap around the form following the oblique angle of orientation contrasting with the colourful glazed interiors. Jenny will be demonstrating her hand building techniques at the gallery throughout the exhibition which runs until September 17th.
Jenny opened the gallery last September to show her ceramics and the paintings and prints of her late husband Geoff Morten. Since then she has introduced a regular exhibition programme of invited artists and also runs weekly pottery classes.
During the school holidays there will also be workshops for kids which will combine beach visits for inspiration followed by afternoons of creating clay sculptures. The art club from Nafferton Primary school are the first group to take part on three consecutive Wednesdays in August.
Jenny’s work can also be seen at York Art Gallery CoCA shop, Leeds Craft Centre, Zillah Bell Gallery in Thirsk and the Contemporary Ceramics Centre in Bloomsbury, London.
