Art Exhibition, Sat 6 May - Sat 3 Jun 2017, free entry
Rosemary Abrahams - ‘It’s All about Colour’.
6 May - 3 June 2017 at Gallery 49, Bridlington.
Rosemary Abraham’s pre-occupation with paint effects and surface texture runs through all aspects of her work. The result is a body of work with discernable common features, but which manifests infinite variety in its realisation.
Influences throughout Rosemary’s life have included Ben Nicholson, Terry Frost, The St Ives School, Matisse from the French Impressionists, the New York Expressionists – especially Rothko and Rauchenburg – and her art work continues the tradition of abstract expressionism into today’s art world.
Rosemary was a student at Leeds College of Arts in the 60's. Her career as a painter for many years ran parallel to her other activity, that of leading a design studio with a worldwide client base with her husband, John French. This led to work in many countries, designing for a wide variety of home and fashion products. These included hand made rugs in Nepal, jute products in Bangladesh, ceramics in Europe, carpets in the USA and many more.
“It’s all about Colour” is Rosemary’s latest exhibition at Gallery 49 in Bridlington, opening on Saturday 6 May 2017. This will showcase a variety of new paintings, mainly landscape and abstract works revealing her love of texture and design. Rosemary will be at the exhibition launch to talk about her work.
Meet the artist on the 6th May, 12noon-3pm.
