Details

Ayton Castle is a late 14th century three storey stone tower house. To the east are the remnants of the inner and outer bailey ramparts, with the grass covered foundations of an inner gateway and traces of fishponds. The site is visible from a public footpath, which passes the castle from Castle Rise.

Follow the A170 out of Scarborough towards Pickering. The road will take you straight into West Ayton, Castle can be found by turning off the A170 to your right onto Yedmondale Rd. The Castle is then visible from a public footpath, which passes the castle from Castle Rise.
