View of the Italian Gardens in Scarborough Awards - Yorkshire in Bloom Awards 2004

Scarborough's strong floral heritage continues as the town clinched a joint 1st with Cleethorpes in the Town Category of the 2004 Yorkshire in Bloom competition.

The judges awarded the town a Silver-Gilt and commended "the high standards and development of public gardens and spaces". Peasholm Park, one of the town's best loved Parks with visitors was praised for the impressive work that had been undertaken there.

2005 will see the town competing florally against Bridlington, Withernsea, Filey, Whitby and Hornsea in a newly formed Coastal Category. Judging will take place in July with the results announced in mid-summer.
