Yorkshire in Bloom 2006 - Multi Award WinningFiley – Silver Gilt (Coastal category) Praised for its colourful residential front gardens and the high quality of the floral displays at hotels and guest houses along the sea front. Osgodby – Silver Gilt (Large Village category) The Yorkshire in Bloom judges praised the village for the high quality of residential gardens, the environmental awareness and community involvement throughout the whole village. Muston – Silver (Small village category) The In Bloom group were praised for their hard work in this attractive village, and for their work with the Borough Council’s ecologist in preserving the flora and fauna around the ancient village pond. Hunmanby – Silver Gilt and Community award (Small country town) The Bloom group were delighted to be recognised for their key aim of “ continuing to improve the appearance of the village through community and youth involvement”, which won them the Community award. The judges commented that this village could be a potential future National Britain in Bloom finalist. Whitby – Silver Gilt and Tourism award, and national finalist 2007 Britain in Bloom (Coastal category) The Yorkshire in Bloom judges praised Pannett Park friends for their work with the floral clock, and the permanent planting in the park. They also praised the Bloom group for making significant progress to improve Whitby’s environment.
