Yorkshire in Bloom awards 2007 Yorkshire in Bloom awards 2007 - Multi award winning Scarborough – Silver Gilt and Category Winner (Coastal Category) The judges commented that “Scarborough has a lot to be proud of with its proactive approach, and with the range of activities and projects which have taken place and are planned.” Filey – Silver Gilt (Coastal Category) Praised for the level of cleanliness and lack of graffiti in the town, commitment to conservation projects and for the “very positive approach with volunteers of all ages”. Muston – Silver (Small Village Category) “Muston is a very pleasant, well kept and clean village, maintained by monthly litter picks organised by the Bloom group” say the judges, adding that “the community should be very proud of their Bloom group as they continue to make Muston into a beautiful village.” Hunmanby – Silver Gilt ( Small Town Category) Keeping up their high standards, Hunmanby were rewarded with a Silver Gilt, impressing the judges with their commitment and enthusiasm. The judges praised the total community involvement together with attractive and well maintained residential areas and a distinct lack of litter. Folkton & Flixton - Silver (Village Category) Praised for their enthusiasm and commitment, this new entry to Yorkshire in Bloom have encouraged support from their community, leading the judges to comment that “Local residential gardens and businesses have all supported the bloom group with floral displays and a high standard of maintenance.” Newby & Scalby – Silver (Small Country Town Category) The lack of litter and high standards of tidiness and almost weed free, led the judges to award this newly formed Bloom group with a Silver medal for their first foray into the competition. Osgodby – Silver Gilt ( Large Village Category) The high level of community spirit within this community led to them being rewarded with a Silver Gilt award. Regular litter picks by the Bloom group means that the village is always clean and tidy. Cayton – Gold (Large Village Category) – Joint Category Winner with Barwick in Elmet The Bloom group struck Gold for their endeavours, with the “range and colour of displays and cleanliness of the route” impressing the Bloom judges. The obvious contribution by residents to the village’s campaign by keeping their residential gardens to a high standard makes this a lovely place to visit.
