Cayton Bay
The magnificent wide sweeping bay is a magnet for summer holidaymakers but Cayton Bay is beautiful whatever time of the year you visit. It is a favourite with surfers, bird watchers and fossil hunters or those who just want to relax and admire this area of unspoilt natural beauty.
We also have more information about Cayton and Cayton Bay as well as Attractions near Cayton Learn the art of surfing at a nationally recognised surf school, established in 1989. The school can arrange lessons by appointment while the more experienced can hire boards and wet suits. Walk along the edges of the cliffs and discover a variety of fossils, millions of years old. You will see rocks formed in the upper Jurassic period around 150 million years ago. Fossils found in this area include Gastropod, (a close relation of modern winkles and snails), Colonial Coral, Starfish and a group of Trigonia bivalves. The beach has been regularly awarded the ENCAMS Seaside Award and will be flying the distinctive blue and yellow flag, (please confirm the current status as the award is annual). There is a regular bus service through this village, bus number 121.
