Discover the Cuisine

You'll love our fabulous food and drink, both home-grown and from around the world.

Afternoon tea on bone china, fish and chips in paper with sand between your toes or fine dining in Michelin-starred surroundings: you'll find them all and more on the Yorkshire Coast - and proper, no-nonsense portions! The Yorkshire Coast is the place the to be!

Experience Fine Dining

For the last few years, the county of Yorkshire has boasted no less than six Michelin-starred restaurants - that's more than any other UK region outside London - and three of them are on our patch. James Mackenzie's Pipe and Glass at South Dalton near Bridlington, which also took second place in the presigious Top 50 Gastropubs in the UK list for 2016, while Andrew Pern's Star at Harome and Tommy Bank's Black Swan at Oldstead both nestle on the borders of the beautiful North York Moors National Park .

But great food isn't just found in restaurants with Michelin stars - there are so many fabulous fine dining experiences to be enjoyed at restaurants and hotels across our region.

Honey, Honey

Honey has amazing health benefits, and our coastal and moorland landscapes produce some of the best. Find out more at Scarborough's unique Honey Farm, the bees are safely behind glass - but youngsters can still have fun trying on a beekeeper's suit.

Fish and Chips

There's nothing like a day on the beach to make you ravenously hungry- and if you're at the seaside, there's no better way to satisfy that hunger than with a plateful, or cardboard tray, full of traditional fish and chips.

The Yorkshire Coast's fish-and-chip shops are offically among the best in the world - both Whitby's Quayside and the town's Magpie Cafe win regular awards and bring national food critics to the town. The Guardian's travel writer raves about the Harbour View Cafe in Scarborough, while Bridlington's Bust Bees has three award-winning outlets.

Then maybe go onto treat yourself in the World Famous Ice Cream Parlour - Harbour Bar.

Sunday Lunch

It will come as no surprise that the Yorkshire Pudding hails originally from, well, Yorkshire! We just love a good sunday roast with all the trimmings (especially, those delicious, crispy, light-as-air golden puddings). Visit one of the many welcoming pubs up and down the Yorkshire Coast if you're fancying a trip out with a delicious roast (complete with Yorkshire Puddings) as its highlight.

Taking Tea

Yorkshire is famous as a county of tea-lovers, and we like it even better when it comes with cake. The North York Moors National Park was recently designated as the UK's Capital of Cake, so there's never been a better time to treat yourself. Go on - you know you want to...
