Burniston Rocks - Out & About

Since the days of William Smith, ‘The Father of English Geology’, geologists have taken part in organised fossil hunts all along this coast, recognised as one of the best geology sites in the world. 180 million years of Earth History are laid out in the rocks along the Yorkshire Coast.

Jurassic rocks bear evidence of a time when dinosaurs roamed the area and footprints are clearly visible along the shore at Burniston.

Why not spend some time searching for dinosaurs along this coastline? Visit the dinosaur coast web site for a list of exciting events throughout the summer season.

There is a regular bus service through this village, bus number 115.
