Cycle Route: Bransdale is a joy to cycle, offering a mix of moorland road riding and fabulous broad valley views. Ride the route anticlockwise from Kirkbymoorside for the best experience.

The ‘lost dale’ of Bransdale – north of Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley – is a gem, smaller and more remote than the dales on either side, only accessible on a single road that loops around the flanking moors via the dalehead at Cockayne.

Grosmont to Beck Hole Walk

Walk Route: Apart from a steep climb up the road to the start of the walk, the first half is a fairly gentle walk through woods and across fields.

Enjoy the signs of spring on a circular walk of just under 5 miles from Grosmont that starts with a shady woodland stroll through the bluebells of Doctor’s Wood and Crag Cliif Wood.

Staindale Lake Easy Access Walk

High Staindale Car Park, Dalby Forest, YO18 7LT

Walk Route: The path has a compact, hard surface of either tarmac or stone. Boardwalks with non-slip surfaces are also used. Gradients are 1 in 10 or less.

Take a walk around Staindale Lake in the heart of Dalby Forest and you won’t be disappointed.
