Access to the cottage is directly from Hunmanby Station platform and is part of the original station buildings built in 1846. The owners John and Monica Bridge live in the Old Station House which was the Station Master's home. The accommodation is all on ground level. There is designated parking in front of the Old Station House. Although retaining Victorian features the cottage has all modern facilities. Central heating throughout. FreeSat television and DVD/CD player. Modern bathroom with shower over. Large bedroom (originally the Waiting Room) with kingsize bed. Fully equipped kitchen (originally the Ladies Waiting Room). Full size cooker, a fridge, microwave and Belfast sink and all the crockery and cooking utensiles you could wish for. We provide drying facilities for walkers and cyclists. Dogs welcome. We also provide bicycles for use by guests.
Hunmanby is a charming village with pubs, cafes, restaurant, shops, Co-op supermarket open 6am.-10pm. (with 'hole in the wall' cash facility) and takeaways. The village centre is less than 10mins walk away. Hunmanby is in the Yorkshire Wolds with the Wolds Way and Cleveland Way nearby which are popular with walkers. There are cycling routes through the surrounding countryside. The nearest coast is Hunmanby Bay less than 2 miles away Filey is 2 1/2 miles distance (5 mins by car or train) with its 6 miles of sandy beach and clifftop walks. RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton cliffs is 15mins away by car or you can walk from Bempton station. Hunmanby station is on the branch line Scarborough to Hull which passes through Seamer, Filey, Bridlington, Driffield and Beverley with trains every hour or so from 7am. til 8pm. (fewer on Sundays and in low season). Connections to main line at Seamer and Hull. If you are a railway fan why not make a booking to coincide with the passing of the occasional steam train? Golf, gym and a coarse fishing lake are in the village. So whether you like a relaxing holiday or enjoy a more active one The Old Waiting Rooms offers you plenty of opportunities. Road Directions
From the South: On the A165 coastal road from Bridlington take the first sign left to Hunmanby just before the Reighton turnoff. Follow the road for approx 1 mile until you come to Hunmanby Station. The Old Waiting Rooms is on your right immediately before the level crossing.
From the West: A64 from York turn onto the A1039 at the Scarborough roundabout signposted Hunmanby. Shortly after the village of Folkton take a right turn up the hill, signposted Hunmanby. Follow the road right through Hunmanby, straight over the mini roundabout and The Old Station House and the Waiting Rooms are on the left immediately after the level crossing.
From the North: A64 south from Scarborough. At the third roundabout after Scarborough take the first left onto the A1039 and follow directions as for from the West.
