4 miles / 6 kilometres south-east of Helmsley.

Nunnington is an attractive and fairly compact village that is built on the lower, north-facing slope of a limestone ridge that runs down to the banks of the River Rye. An avenue of trees lines the main road road, up the ridge slope, to a viewpoint at Caukleys Bank and offers a panorama of neighbouring countryside.

Nunnington Hall
This beautiful 17th century manor house on the banks of the River Rye is open to the public. It has a magnificent staircase and panelled rooms and contains the Carlisle Collection of Miniature Rooms. You can find out more from the National Trust.
