Moors & Shores 2018

Moors & Shores 2018

Details

Quite simply Adventure Cross events are cross country journeys by bike that are designed to be 100% rideable on either a cyclocross bike or an mtb.

Run on a sportive format Adventure Cross events are anything but your normal sportive ……

The routes incorporate a mixture of tracks, trails, forest roads, old railway cycle route / paths, bridleways as well as lanes and tarmac roads to create an interesting and challenging route over a variety of terrain and surfaces with the emphasis on remoteness, getting off the beaten track and getting away from traffic and traffic noise wherever and whenever possible.

The Cycling Weekly / mbr Moors & Shores Adventure Cross event starts at Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire, home of the fantastic Dalby MTB trails, on Sunday 15th April 2018.

Forests, moors, coastal trails and short, steep climbs make up the arena for this Adventure Cross journey in a lesser explored area of the North York Moors National Park. The contrast between the forest roads and moorland tracks, which are hard going when wet, and the sections of old railway line near the coast ensure flowing riding and a constantly changing land and sky scapes

Our Moors & Shores event is perfect for riders looking for a challenge that is a good measure of physical endurance but also offers short sections that are technically demanding (on a cross bike) interspersed between longer, less technical off road sectors.

Both Moors & Shores routes are perfect for cyclocross bikes, although mtb’s are also suitable, and both routes have a higher percentage of the rides off road, on a range of surfaces, than on tarmac.

There’s a choice of two route options:

The Massif is a 97.5km / 61 mile long cycling adventure with 60.8km / 38 miles of the route off road and 1,830m of ascent.

The Mini Massif is a 73.8km / 46 mile long cycling adventure with 47km / 29.4 miles of the route off road and 1,540m of ascent.
