Comedy & Pie at The Mayfield

Comedy & Pie at The Mayfield

Details

We've brought together three top comedians performing cutting edge stand-up comedy to entertain you while you enjoy a tasty 'Toms' pie and FREE pint of FOSTERS!

Seymour Mace - despite looking like a slightly dishevelled and demented geography lecturer, he is a brilliant comedian. He crackles with childish energy, getting caught in flights of fancy and going off on strange tangents, but never loses sight of the gag. A performer worth the admission price alone.

He was a regular in BBC2's Johnny Vegas sitcom 'Ideal', a former City Life Comedian of the Year and Breakthrough Act at the North West Comedy Awards. Like a truly bizarre hybrid of Harry Hill, Half Man Half Biscuit and Viz comic, Seymour is a teller of extremely tall tales and High Priest of the terrifically twisted one-liner. He was also victorious in the Cup A Soup Comedy Challenge. You may mock such a curiously named title but the prize money was 10 grand.

'Leaves his crowd uplifted, entertained and laden with charity shop-bought gifts...Warm, original and weird' (Edinburgh Festival Guide)

As a fifteen-year-old Liverpudlian schoolboy, Simon Bligh was told by his headmaster that he would go to hell. His mum wanted him to be a priest; he wanted to be a plumber. His dad was a mad Catholic Communist; he was a Kung Fu mad Buddhist. Growing up in Toxteth, his childhood was odd, but full of strange passions. Philosophy and Zen, leather trousers and motorbikes. Japan, unarmed combat and stand up comedy. The young Simon loved comedy and, upon seeing a Richard Pryor film in an empty Manchester cinema, he realised his true calling. He knew he should be a comedian. Faced with this revelation, there followed a decade of travelling, teaching and trying to pluck up the courage to ring for open spots. Finally, he did it. He hasn’t looked back since.

Ten years on, Simon is one of the finest, and most sought after performers in this country, and beyond. With a Time Out Comedy Award and Perrier Award nomination under his belt, Simon is in great demand. Aside from being a top compere at the world famous Comedy Store, he regularly delights audiences nation-wide at comedy clubs and corporate events throughout the UK. His cheery, conversational manner and manic storytelling involve acute observations and he juxtaposes a cheery, affable conversational style with a wild, frenetic and fast-moving performance engaging audiences in a whirlwind of unadulterated comedy.

Tony Vino is the only half Spanish half Scottish hybrid working comic in the world. Born in Malaga he was subsequently raised in the Costa Del Preston, Lancashire. When he was only a toddler his Father looked around saw the sea, the sand and the sunshine of the Andalucian coast and thought “we need to be nearer Wigan Pier”.

He has been touring the comedy scene since early 2005 performing across the UK and internationally. Tony has enjoyed recognition as a comedian and notably comedy compere of renown.

He is best known for the way he seamlessly mixes well thought out observational humour with audience interaction and quick witted responses. His life and interests are wide ranging, and so is his material, all performed in a warm, friendly and non-offensive style. When hosting festivals and corporate events Tony’s confident effervescent persona has been found ideal for engaging crowds in their 100’s and 1000’s.

All attempts are made to ensure that show information and prices are correct at the time of booking and going to print but may be subject to subsequent alteration.
