Boxing Day Events

Boxing Day Events

The long-standing festive traditions of Scarborough will return to entertain locals and visitors throughout Christmas and New Year.

Events will begin on Boxing Day with the charity football game on South Bay between fishermen and firemen.

The teams will meet in town outside Heron Foods (opposite to the bank of Lloyds) on the day and march down to the seafront followed by the Comic Band. The game will kick off at 10.30am and last until 12 pm.

While fishermen and firemen compete for the coveted trophy, the usual mile of pennies will be built by locals. Coppers are lined up at the bottom of the kerb along Foreshore Road from the house of the lifeboat to Coney Island.

Festive operations will continue in the afternoon with the famous Raft Race organised by Scarborough Sub Aqua Club which will take place in Scarborough’s harbour at 12:30pm.

Want to take part in the race? Call 01723 372657 for those who wish to register.
