Newlands holiday cottages are located between the glorious spa town of Scarborough, with its famous castle and the historic fishing town of Whitby, with its Gothic Abbey. They are located on the picturesque Yorkshire Coast within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Newlands Farm was purchased off the Duchy of Lancaster at the end of 2014.

The cottages are a converted barn that have been refurbished to a very high standard retaining original features creating a homely welcoming atmosphere. All the have been furnished and equipped with great attention to detail. Rose, Fern and Lavender cottage offer a charming base with the use of a hot tub and amazing views over glorious countryside and out to sea and of Scarborough. They offer a hot tub in a sunny secluded court yard and garden.

Rose and Lavender cottage both sleep four people in two bedrooms, whereas Fern cottage sleeps three in one large bedroom. Prices start at £325 per week up to £675 at the height of the season. Short breaks are available. Rose, Fern and Lavender Cottages have all been awarded 4 stars by visit England.

The Farm House which sleeps eight people plus a day bed for a child is over three floors has kept many original features inclduing exposed ceiling beams. The top floor has a master suite with super king size bed and also a day bed. It has an en-suite bathroom with roll top bath and walk through wardrobe. On the first floor there is an en-suite bedroom with super king size bed. The en-suite has a beautiful spacious shower. There are two twin bedrooms one of which has zip and link beds and could be made into a super king bed too. These two bedrooms are served by a large family bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower. On the ground floor there is large farm house kitchen dining room. It has a range cooker and belfast sink with solid wood work tops there is also large dining table. The lounge is spacious with leather sofas, tv and log burning stove. It also has a beautiful bay window with stunning views over farm land out to sea with the added bonus of a view of Scarborough Castle and on an evening the light house at Flambrough Head can be seen twinkling. In the bay window we have a telescope so you can enjoy the views further or star gaze on an evening. We have a snug with sofa and bean cubes where you can also watch tv, read or play one of the games provided. The ground floor also has the added bonus of a wet room. In the garden there is a patio with bbq and private hot tub. There is also a lawn for relaxing playing out door games or just enjoying the quiet location. The farm house is awaiting its star rating.

All our properties have free Wi-fi. We are pet friendly and have been awarded pets welcome along with our star rating, this year we have added more facilities and are aiming to get cyclists welcome and ramblers welcome for all our properties. We have a bike store shed that is locked and fitted with racks for storing bikes although you need to bring locks to lock your bikes to the racking. We have also converted the wash house to provide each property with a heated drying locker for their own use to dry foot wear and out door clothing they are lockable too. There is a dog shower as well so dogs can be cleaned with warm water and towels are provided for drying.

Each Property is equipped with a washer tumble dryer, dish washer, microwave, electric oven, fridge, freezer, drinks fridge and coffee machine. They have smart tvs, blu-ray dvd players abd DABradios with CD plyers and i pod docking stations. Each bedroom has a shaver plug plus hair dryer. The bathrooms have both baths and separate shower cubicles. They all have ther own yard or garden area with BBQ and outdoor seating and dining facilities. All bedding, linen and towels are provided.

We welcome families, pet owners cyclists ramblers/walkers. We do have a shed that may be used on request for locking things like golf clubs surf boards etc if required. Newlands farm only offers non smoking accommodation.

Set among rolling hills the pretty village of Cloughton has 2 good local Inns. One is located at the bottom of our private drive The Bryherstones Country Inn. Both welcome pets and children and serve excellent food. The Hayburn Wyke is located on the wyke walk and the Scarborough to Whitby Cinder Track.

The cottages form a diversification of a working farm that is based in Ruswarp on the edge of Whitby. The farm has a dairy unit at Ruswarp and rear Aberdeen Angus Cattle for the British food market. Our milk is purchased by Arla Foods and the cattle are supplied to Dovecote Park.

Road Directions

From Whitby follow the A171. As you approach Cloughton village there is a sharp right hand bend, on the bend turn immediately left, Cober Hill is located on your right. As you follow this road (Newlands Road) you will see Hood Lane on your right, drive past this staying on Newlands Road. A little further on you will see the Bryherstones Country Inn on your left, directly after this on the right hand side Newlands farm is located up its own drive.

From Scarborough you follow the A171 into the village of Cloughton, you go over a pedestrian crossing with the village pub located just after this on your left hand side. As you begin to leave the village there is a sharp left hand bend. At the bend you turn right onto Newlands Road. Cober Hill is located on your right. As you follow this road (Newlands Road) you will see Hood Lane on your right, drive past this staying on Newlands Road. A little further on you will see the Bryherstones Country Inn on your left, directly after this on the right hand side Newlands Farm is located up its own drive.
