Celebrating Sleights Volunteer Fair

Celebrating Sleights Volunteer Fair

Ever thought about volunteering in your local area and supporting your community?

Details

The event, organised by Community First Yorkshire and North Yorkshire County Council, is open to all and promises to be a celebration of local life, activities and skills. There will be lots of information on how people can get involved and volunteer in their local community.

Date and time: Saturday 24 November 10am – 4pm
Location: Sleights Village Hall, 53 Coach Road, Sleights, Whitby YO22 5BT

Confirmed exhibitors on the day, who can talk about local volunteering, include: Whitby District Community Transport • North Yorkshire Youth - painting a Sleights rock • Carers Resources – My Neighbourhood • Guides and Brownies • Esk Valley Railway Development Partnership • Whitby Area Sheds • Yorkshire Countrywomen Association • Beyond Housing • Revival North Yorkshire CIC

Entry to the event is FREE, and there will be refreshments, produce and crafts for sale, plus games for younger children.

As part of #Iwill Week (12-16 November), Community First Yorkshire is encouraging young people to get involved in meaningful social action and to have an impact on the communities and causes they care so much about. Celebrating Sleights Volunteer Fair is a perfect springboard for young people in the area to find out how they can get involved with local volunteering.
Leah Swain, Chief Executive at Community First Yorkshire, said: “Not only is volunteering good for building up your CV, it’s a great way to learn new skills, make new friends and give something back to your community. For young people it can help you stand out from the crowd on job and university applications. If you’re trying to find a volunteering role for your Duke of Edinburgh awards, this is the place to come.”
