Since the 19th century, this spacious, bracing moorland village has attracted visitors but numbers soared as a result of its setting for Aidensfield in the television series 'Heartbeat'. There is a station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and walkers can enjoy a stroll to Mallyan Spout, Beck Hole, Darnholm, Grosmont and the Roman Road. Village also consists of public toilet, restaurant, cafe, general store/shop, public house serving bar meals, public telephone box, railway station, a church and a post office.
