We've collated some of our favourite eating spots for you to choose from when you're visiting Whitby.
1. Food at The Station Inn
The Station Inn is located on New Quay Road, opposite the train station and is open every day from 10am and closes at Midnight (except Sundays).
On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, enjoy live music from 9pm-11pm. On Sundays, we have live music from 5pm-11pm. On Thursdays there is a quiz from 8pm.
Sample the ever changing roster of 8 Real Ales, mainly from Yorkshire including 2 Local Ales, alongside national favourites. From light to dark, hoppy or citrus there is always something for everyone to enjoy.
The Station Inn is dog friendly in all of our bar area, and allow well behaved children until 8pm.
The Station Inn has 5 en-suite bedrooms - 3 King Size rooms, 1 double room and a family room with a double bed and a sofa bed. All rooms have Nespresso Coffee Machines, tea making facilities and flat screen TVs. All king rooms have waterfall showers and our largest king room benefits from a full wet room with a large bath and underfloor heating.
2. Raithwaite Sandsend Restaurant
The newest addition to Raithwaite Estate, The Brasserie at Raithwaite celebrates the best of French brasserie food, combined with Yorkshire specialities.
Sundays without a roast dinner in Yorkshire are unheard of. The Brasserie creates a special atmosphere to enjoy fine food with family and friends every Sunday. In addition to the full menu, a delicious roast dinner is available.
Whether it is a special occasion, a business lunch, birthday party or anniversary celebration, the team at Raithwaite can provide you with the perfect menu within the perfect setting. Choose to celebrate in either the Vinoteca or Headlam Suite where exciting menus with wine pairing for up to 20 guests are available. Larger parties can make the most of our Raithwaite Suite which can cater for up to 130 guests. A bespoke menu service is also available.
3. Abbey Wharf
Abbey Wharf's restaurant comfortably seats over 250 guests, in our beautifully refurbished premises.
As well as tables for groups of various sizes within the main seating area, there's also room for diners who prefer something a little more 'al fresco'. With an extensive balcony overlooking the harbour and out towards Whitby's famous East and West Piers, Abbey Wharf is a wonderful location from which to watch the world go by.
Upstairs, the mezzanine level with its own bar serves as overflow from the main restaurant, as well as providing a space which can be hired for private parties and functions, giving an added level of privacy.
4. Mallyan Spout Restaurant, Bar and Coffee Shop

With many of Yorkshire's finest suppliers on our doorstep, the menus are made up of local produce – from fresh Whitby fish to local speciality cheeses. Enjoy fine dining done the Yorkshire way! Food to die for, wine that goes down too easily offered with an unforgettable and friendly service. Wonderful food and not over priced in a romantic classical setting.
Spout Bar
The Bar is the true heart of The Mallyan, spilling out into the wonderful relaxing lounge areas. Our extensive drinks menu covers Yorkshires finest ales to the more modern Gins, Vodkas & Cocktails. In the winter, sit in front of roaring log fires with a pint of real ale, a coffee with a little something added or one of our renowned home made desserts. In warmer months try a fresh cocktail, a glass of something sparkly, or a Pimms heading on the lawn.
Coach House Coffee Shop
The latest addition to the Mallyan has now become a real customer favourite serving all homemade cakes, light snacks, afternoon teas, barista coffees, speciality milkshakes and more.
5. Botham's Skinner Street Tea Room & Shop
The award winning traditional tearooms and Botham's flagship shop and cafe in Whitby offers breakfasts, morning coffee, set luncheon, wide selection of English Fayre, afternoon teas, cream teas and much more. 6. Magpie Cafe
Housed in a distinctive black and white building overlooking the harbour, the Magpie Café is in a prime position for you to enjoy the fabulous views of Whitby at the same time as sampling our wide selection of meals. Specialities include dishes that use prime fresh local fish, seafood and specially selected ingredients.
It’s known throughout North Yorkshire and beyond as one of the finest fish restaurants in the area. One of the things every visitor to Whitby notices is the queue outside Magpie in all weathers and seasons to sample the finest fish dishes in Yorkshire.
7. Quayside
Quayside Restaurant and Lounge Bar was opened in 1999 by the Fusco family and is housed in one of the town's oldest buildings on Whitby's historic quayside. The family have been serving fish and chips in Whitby for over 50 years and the restaurant remains family owned and managed.
Quayside is now a well renowned, nationally acclaimed, award-winning fish and seafood restaurant which prides itself on only using the best, sustainable produce. Occupying two floors, stunning panoramic harbour views can be enjoyed from the first floor while tucking into delicious fish and chips, grilled fish, seafood salads, and an extensive cocktail and wine list. Quayside is renowned for its homemade tartare sauce and scampi, while the dessert menu will delight those with a sweet tooth.
As a family business, Quayside welcomes children of all ages and has superb facilities, including a delicious children’s menu and dedicated toddler menu for the youngest diners. Gluten free fish and chips are available, on request, throughout the week with no need to pre-book.
