Nature, Parks & Gardens

At the northerly tip of the Yorkshire Nature Triangle, Bridlington is a mecca for the wildlife lover. Just to the north, the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs, with its wheeling colonies of seabirds, including puffins, guillemots, razorbills and the largest and most accessible mainland nesting colony of gannets; and to the south, Hornsea Mere, home to large numbers of wildfowl, and Spurn Point, a haven for autumn migrants, including many rare species. Danes Dyke beach is also a good start point for a coastal walk taking in many birding and rock-pooling opportunities.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Living Seas Centre at Flamborough is a great family gateway to learning about what lives above and below the waves. Get top tips for rock-pooling and seashore exploring nearby, and find out the latest information on sightings of dolphins, porpoises and whales all along the coast.

There are beautiful gardens around the town, too, including those at Sewerby Hall and Burton Agnes Hall.
