Sandsend

Please think twice before travelling to our borough.
If you do choose to visit at this time, #stayalert and please remember:

• There are still limited facilities available - we cannot guarantee which car parks and toilets will be open
• Many local businesses remain closed in line with government guidelines
• Many of our beaches remain without lifeguard cover
• To avoid busy places, including narrow paths and streets
• To respect social distancing at all times, staying at least two metres apart from anyone not in your household
• To respect our communities and the environment. Dropping litter is unacceptable. Please use a bin or take it home with you.

Thank you.

Just above Whitby, this gorgeous little village stretches along a sweep of fine beach, divided by a stream running into the sea, with clear views of historic Whitby Abbey. Sandsend is great for families, those looking for a romantic and nostalgic break, surfers and fossil hunters. It boasts fine food, from simple beach shacks through tea rooms to some seriously swanky restaurants, a gallery selling the work of some of the region’s best artists, and one of the coast’s premier hotels, with not just one, but two spas – one for dogs, and another for their owners!
