Castle Howard Station Platform 1

About

Just the ticket for a first class holiday break with a difference – Platform 1 provides unique accommodation within the former Castle Howard Station, a grade II listed building with a fascinating history. Situated within an area of outstanding natural beauty, it will appeal to those with historical, architectural and wildlife interests as well as those who are passionate about railways or indeed anyone looking for somewhere of real comfort to de-stress from the hectic pace of modern life.

As you open the door to your exclusive self-contained apartment, keep in mind that more than a century and a half before, Her Majesty Queen Victoria walked through the very same doorway, as she arrived to begin her visit as the guest of the Earl of Carlisle to the glorious palace of Castle Howard, just a couple of miles away.

Passing through the light and airy hallway, you’ll find yourself in the spacious and modern apartment that will be yours to enjoy throughout your stay in this beautiful area of North Yorkshire.

Whilst the station is situated on the York to Scarborough main line the peace is only punctuated occasionally by passing trains as they slowly glide around the bends of the wooded Derwent river valley. Only in the height of the summer is the calm shattered by the sound of the mighty steam locomotives that haul the Scarborough Spa Express, twice a day. A distant whistle is your signal to take your privileged vantage point to see the express thunder by at very close quarters.

A unique apartment, made from the beautiful and historic station's public waiting rooms, offers every modern comfort, from cosy under-floor heating and log burning stove, state of the art kitchen to Sky TV and good quality wifi. There is private, off-road parking and beautiful gardens if you feel like staying at home.

In summer the two and a half feet solid stone walls provide a cool refuge from too much sun. We want our guests to feel discreetly pampered, so think hotel-standards rather than self catering where you need to bring everything but the kitchen sink!

Ideally placed to explore the whole of Yorkshire - it is located in the Vale of York at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds and in area of outstanding natural beauty of the Howardian Hills. It is 5 minutes' drive from Castle Howard; 20 minutes from the city of York and 30-40 minutes from the moors and coast. A centrally located base camp to explore Yorkshire and a luxurious hideaway for for all seasons.

There are no hidden costs only nice surprises!
