About
The Endeavour Restaurant nestles in an old cobbled street at the heart of the picturesque North Yorkshire village of Staithes.
The building, which takes its name from the flagship of the famous explorer Capt. James Cook, is over two hundred years old, and retains much of its character with wood panelling, narrow staircases, and sash windows.
Staithes is still a working village, and the restaurant sources fresh crab, lobster, and fish from the quay at Whitby, as well as catches from small local fishing boats. Wherever possible, meat, cheese, and vegetables, are also sourced locally.
Weather and seasonal availability shape the menu which changes daily. The emphasis remains on seafood, although meat and vegetarian alternatives are always available.
The building has been extensively refurbished but the atmosphere of the two dining rooms remains relaxed and informal. The wine list has been chosen to complement the menu, and the tasting notes assist in this. Major credit cards and debit cards are accepted.
Since many diners travel to eat at the restaurant, the owners have improved the standard of accommodation for those who wish to stay. There are now three double rooms with full en suite facilities, one with a view of Cowbar''s impressive cliffs, and another with panoramic views of the sea and harbour. Special dinner, bed and breakfast rates apply Tuesday-Thursday (two night minimum stay).
Although the conservation area of Staithes is closed to most traffic, residents enjoy the benefit of private parking in the heart of the old village.
Our luxury en-suite accommodation offers a place to explore the picturesque old fishing village of Staithes, whilst been able to explore the plethora of attractions within the North York Moors National Park.
