Get away from it all
Westerdale is at the head of the Esk Valley in the heart of the largest area of heather moorland in England Hill House is a spacious 18th century listed farmhouse situated on a working farm with exceptional views of the rugged countryside.

Ideal for ramblers
Everyone will enjoy the variety of walks available, just amble along the footpaths at your leisure. For the more serious hikers find the source of the river Esk, then up to the isolated Lion Inn for a snack, before walking round the head of Rosedale where you can see the remains of the iron ore kilns.

Just a Heartbeat away
You may have wondered where the Heartbeat crew enjoy a pint. The answer is at Goathland within 20 miles. Shop at the Aidensfield Stores or walk down to Mallyan Spout waterfall. Why not treat yourself to a ride on the steam train?

Historic Yorkshire
This part of North Yorkshire is full of ruined Monasteries and stone moors crosses from the birth of Christianity in Britain. You can experience the majesty of Rievaulx Abbey or visit Whitby Abbey built in 664 AD. Whitby Regatta and Folk week both take place in August. York, (within 45 miles), is a fantastic historic city, home to York Minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre where you can discover how the Vikings lived in Yorkshire.
