About

National Winners of the English Tourist Council's England for Excellence award for Self Catering Holiday of the Year. Three times winner of the Yorkshire Tourist Board White Rose Award for the Self Catering Holiday of the Year. As featured and recommended in the Daily Telegraph, Independent on Sunday and Daily Express, Good Housekeeping magazine and Practical Parenting magazine.

The cottages and buildings: these nine award-winning cottages (sleeping two to eight guests) are attractively converted from red brick and pantile farm buildings, nestled amongst some of Yorkshire's most beautiful countryside on the edge of the North York Moors National Park enjoying magnificent panoramic sea views. Six of our cottages are single storey making access for the young and old much easier. All cottages are ETC 3 & 4 star and are furnished and equipped to a very high standard including TVs, DVD/CD players, microwaves, dishwashers etc. Each cottage has individually controlled gas central heating throughout, together with a bathroom with shower. We aim to ensure that all the cottages are equipped with everything you will require to make your holiday stay as straightforward and enjoyable as possible and we pride ourselves in ensuring that the cottages are spotlessly clean on your arrival. There is a laundry room with automatic washing machines and tumble dryer for the use of our guests. This room also hosts a library which contains DVDs, CDs, games and books for our guests to borrow together with extensive information on the local area and events.

Leisure facilities and grounds: the superb indoor heated swimming pool (11 x 5.5m) and Jacuzzi are open all year and are solely for the use of our guests. Our spacious award-winning gardens include ivy clad walls, climbing roses and landscaped courtyards. The extensive lawns include a summerhouse and barbecue area together with the fully-furnished Teddy Bears Cottage including Mummy Bear, Daddy Bear and Baby Bear picnic park and adventure playground.

Location and activities: Wrea Head is ideally situated for touring the Heritage Coast (including Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay), the National Park and beautiful forest drives. For the more energetic visitors there are opportunities for walking, mountain biking, horse-riding, sea trout or coarse fishing, golf or even off-road 4 x 4 driving. The traditional seaside resort of Scarborough has plenty of attractions for the children including the Sea Life Centre or donkey rides on the beach. Then there is the popular North Yorkshire Steam Railway which runs from Pickering or the historic walled city of York, both being easily accessible, as is the famous stately home at Castle Howard.

The resident owners will be looking forward to welcoming you and will be available to ensure that your stay at Wrea Head will be a happy and memorable one.

A public telephone is available in the information room for all guests.
