About
Owned and run by The Banks Family, who have lived and farmed around Oldstead for many generations; it's very much their creation, with Tommy Banks heading the kitchen and his brother James running the front-of-house.
Tommy Banks' talent as a chef is in itself truly remarkable. He was Britain's youngest Michelin-starred chef in 2013 and won Great British Menu in 2016 and 2017. For us at The Black Swan, it's so much more than just Michelin Star food. The focus is all about where we are and who we are – a reflection of “Oldstead”- traditional Yorkshire with a swirling mix of creativity and eccentricity.
There's a 2 acre kitchen garden adjoining The Black Swan that grows produce with an aim to be largely self-sufficient by focusing the menu around home-produced vegetables, salad, herbs, mushrooms and fruit.
Read Tommy and the teams blog which gives a unique behind-the-scenes insight into the latest developments at The Black Swan at Oldstead. www.tommybanks.wordpress.com
