About
One finds a restful, friendly atmosphere here at the Grange, which has a reputation second to none, for good food and personal, courteous service. The twelve bedrooms have been tastefully furnished and decorated; all have their own private bathroom.
There is a spacious, comfortable lounge with an open fire and there is a beautiful dining room; both look on to the terrace and rose garden beyond.
The Grange is fully licensed for residents and non residents and has an extensive wine list and choice of drinks, though it has no bar.
Lastingham Grange has been highly recommended by many internationally recognised hotel guides, “Signpost” and Ashley Courtenay’s “Let’s Halt Awhile” being but two. Harold Champion, writing in the Financial Times about North Yorkshire, said of the Grange “the best hotel of the whole tour, an ideal spot to spend the a week-end in utter peace and enjoying fine country fare”
Lastingham is a perfect centre for the moors and the dales, for ruined abbeys and castles, for the ancient city of York and for the coast, with its smugglers coves and its long sandy beaches, a mere twenty or so miles away
