About

Iconic 199 steps made famous by being mentioned in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Leading up to the old St Mary’s Church and Whitby Abbey.

Dating back to around 1340 when they were wooden and believed to have been used to test the faith of followers of Christianity.
It is a long walk up but it is worth it in the end for the fabulous views from the top.

Don’t forget to count as you go and look out for the roman numerals on your way.
