About
Scarborough Art Gallery, an Italianate villa built in the 1840s as part of The Crescent, houses Scarborough's fine art collection. Paintings feature seascapes and views of Scarborough including works by H.B.Carter, Frank Mason and Ernest Dade. The Gallery also displays works by Lord Leighton, Ivon Hitchens, Matthew Smith, Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious.
The Art Gallery has a lively temporary exhibition programme that features contemporary work by professional artists. The exhibition programme is accompanied by events, talks and activities for families.

This is a self-guided tour of Scarborough Art Gallery and covers all public floors of the building. The tour also contains three temporary exhibitions that were in place at the Gallery at the time the tour was captured. These are – Scarborough: Our Seaside Town, Laughton’s Legacies and Animal Hauntings.

By car There is no car parking on site as the Museum is adjacent to a main road, however there is on street pay and display car parking on The Crescent for approximately 40+ vehicles and a pay and display undercover car park at the Brunswick Centre at York Place. Blue Badge and disabled parking is subject to the local council policy and to access the up to date car parking information use www.scarborough.gov.uk

By train The nearest railway station is Scarborough, which is 0.5 miles away (six minutes’ walk). This is a step free station. Taxis are available at the station. By bus The nearest bus stop is at York Place 0.2 miles (2 minutes’ walk) from our main entrance.
