Scalby fair

About

Scalby Fair takes place in June each year in the beautiful village of Scalby, located just north of Scarborough.

One of the few remaining street fairs in the north of England, the fair began in 1977 as a street party to celebrate Her Majesty, the Queens Silver Jubilee.

The fair is a week of events that culminates in a street fair with 50+ stalls, street entertainment, small children’s rides, tombola and barbecue.

Each year the fair is attended by around 3,000 people and takes place along Scalby High Street.
The village boasts two nearby pubs, a café and village stalls.

During the week evenings, we have several events, including, a live entertainment show, children’s and adults run, treasure hunt, wine tasting, pie and pea supper, flower festival, live music and a service of thanksgiving.

The fair is a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers with the intention of fostering community spirit.
Any money made from the year is donated to local organisations and groups.

The 2020 ‘Roaring Twenties’ theme fair was due to take place 14th -20th June which unfortunately due to the Covid 19 outbreak, has been cancelled.

The fair looks forward to welcoming you back 13th – 19th June 2021 (Fair Day 19th June).

Other Scalby Fair events include the popular Scalby Charity Walk which takes place each year on Easter Monday. The 62nd walk will take place from the Plough Inn on Monday 5th April 2021.
