Whitby Weddings: And the Bride Wore...

About

This Costume Gallery exhibition looks at wedding attire from the second half of the 20th century. It was inspired by the work of John Tindale who took many wedding photographers for the Whitby Gazette during this period.

See for the first time the stunning wedding dress of the late Marchioness of Normanby kindly loaned to us by the family for the exhibition and the wedding dress worn by Rhoda Smith wife of Peter Walker, aka Nicholas Rhea, author of the Heartbeat novels. Rhoda accompanied her dress with wellington boots as she battled through a snowdrift!

The exhibition also includes a touchscreen wall of weddings featured in the Whitby Gazette from 1950 to 1999.
