Mallyan Spout and Beck Hole Walk

Long before Heartbeat and TV fame, the tumbling waterfall of Mallyan Spout helped put Goathland on the map as a tourist village in the nineteenth century.

Walk Route: The first part of the walk follows the pavement alongside the village road in Goathland. There are steps on the descent into the wooded valley, and steps and gates on the ascent – all paths may be slippery and muddy after rain.

Runswick Bay Easy Access Walk

Take a pleasant 2-mile linear walk along the Runswick Bay clifftop to enjoy wide views over Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave.

Walk Route: The walk follows a mostly level grass/earth surface through fields along the cliff edge. There’s one kissing gate en route, and while there are some shallow steps at one point, an alternative path avoids the steps.

Roseberry Topping and Cook's Monument Walk

An ascent of the ‘Yorkshire Matterhorn’, plus a reminder or two of the great navigator and explorer Captain Cook – just some of the delights of this classic 7-mile circular walk through dappled woodlands and across heather moorland.

Walk Route: The climb up Roseberry Topping (1,050 feet/320 metres) is a steep ascent up a stepped path and stone track – there's also another (gentler) ascent from Gribdale Gate to Cook's Monument.

Hutton le Hole and Lastingham Walk

Enjoy quiet fields, country lanes and moorland tracks on a charming 4-mile circular walk connecting the two moorland villages of Hutton le Hole and Lastingham.

Walk Route: The walk follows field paths and moorland tracks, and also has some woodland sections (one with a fairly steep ascent) which can be muddy and slippery after rain.

Easily Accessible Walking Route

A pretty and interesting wheelchair friendly 4Km walk along a smooth and safe boardwalk which follows the River Derwent, the start is close to the car park and the boardwalk ends where the path comes out of the wood on to pasture land.
