A well managed deciduous sheltered woodland offering various tracks that can be explored in Class 2 and 3 scooters. The second circuit to the Old Castle is a climb but is on a good hard track.

A circular route that has a short cut if needed. Proceed down the farm road then keep straight on when the farm road turns sharp right. At the end of the track turn right to do the full circuit or left.

With great views over Rosedale and Farndale, this linear route follows the old ironstone railway which ran from Battersby Junction to the mines either side of Rosedale valley.

This is a short easy stroll along the escarpment of the Hambleton Hills from where there are distant views to the Yorkshire Dales. Try to walk this route in August when the heather is in full bloom.

Start from the Saltergate layby on the A619 opposite the Hole of Horcum. Take care for the few metres along the roadside then turn onto the track. This out and back has a few big potholes so smaller scooters might have difficulty.

This is a short, moderate walk on a variety of surfaced and grass paths, with a maximum gradient of 1:12. This quiet coastal walk offers views north towards Scarborough and south to Filey.

Take to the boards on this easy-going 2-mile linear route through the strikingly beautiful woods of Forge Valley.

Walk Route: The route follows a fairly level, wooden boardwalk for its entire length. There are plenty of passing places, which double up as viewing platforms. There are numerous seats along the way.

There is limited parking in Lastingham but the owner of the Lastingham Grange Hotel was very accommodating to our group and is a good place for refreshments at the end of your ramble.

Take a pleasant 2-mile linear walk along the Runswick Bay clifftop to enjoy wide views over Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave.

Walk Route: The walk follows a mostly level grass/earth surface through fields along the cliff edge. There’s one kissing gate en route, and while there are some shallow steps at one point, an alternative path avoids the steps.

Nearly 2,000 years ago the Romans built a group of fortifications overlooking the central moorlands of the National Park.

Walk Route: The trail starts in the far corner of the car park, next to the information panel and the disabled parking bay. It's a 1-mile loop – simply follow the marker posts showing a carved head of a Roman soldier.

From the Forestry Commission car park on the B1257 north of Helmsley the route arcs around the northern edge of Rievaulx moor.

The path starts on the green adjacent to the car park at the end of the road. It is very busy in the summer as it connects the large caravan park to the town.

Climb steadily through the picturesque forestry tracks to High Cliff Nab for lunch with breath-taking views returning through Hutton Village.

A short easy access trail on a flat, even surface with extensive views from the viewpoint. Crosscliff provides an outstanding panorama of an ice-age sculpted landscape.

Starting at the Dalby Courtyard near the Visitor Centre, the Ellerburn Trail is a multi-user pathway for disabled cyclists, walkers and wheelchair users as well children learning to ride a bike and parents with pushchairs.
