Travelling to & around the Yorkshire Coast

If you are travelling to the Yorkshire Coast, let us help you with some useful information to help you get here and travel around the county.
There are plenty of ways to explore the Yorkshire Coast, whether by car or making the most of the great public transport network, it will allow you to take in the spectacular views and enjoy travelling around our region.

By Road

From the North head towards Middlesbrough, and pick up the A171 towards Whitby, then follow on towards Scarborough or pick up the A165 to Filey and Bridlington.


From the South take the M1 towards Sheffield then the M18 towards Doncaster then A1(M) towards York then the A64 to Scarborough/Filey. For Whitby follow the A64 towards Malton and turn off at the A169 (Near Eden Camp).


From the West take the M62 to Leeds and then the M1 towards York and then pick up the A64 towards Scarborough/Filey. 

By Rail

Train Services to Whitby

There are six services Monday-Saturday and four on Sundays between Middlesbrough and Whitby. Middlesbrough has Northern connections from Darlington, Hartlepool, Newcastle and Carlisle and Transpennine has connections from York, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester.

Train Services to Scarborough

Transpennine Express
TransPennine Express run hourly services into Scarborough from Leeds and York with the last service leaving Scarborough at 22.46.


Have a regular hourly service from Sheffield, Meadowhall, Doncaster, Goole and Hull via Bridlington and Filey to Scarborough.

EastYorkshire Busses Schedule - Late Night Shopping

Our special late night shopping buses will be running on Services 8/8A (Barrowcliff, Hospital, Northstead, Briercliff), Services 9/9A (Scalby, Newby, High Mill) and Service 11 (Newby, Barrowcliff). Plus, we already have evening buses on Services 7/7A (Seamer Road, Eastfield, Filey Road).
