A short easy access trail with extensive views from the viewpoint. Crosscliff provides an outstanding panorama of an ice-age sculpted landscape. Blakey Topping a lonely hill off to the west is reputed to have been created by a giant.

Ellerburn Red Trail at Dalby Forest

Starting at the Dalby Courtyard near the Visitor Centre, the Ellerburn Trail is a multi-user pathway for disabled cyclists, walkers, and wheelchair users as well children learning to ride a bike and parents with pushchairs.

Pexon Moor Trail Easy Access Walk at Dalby Forest

A circular trail around Pexton Moor taking in the diverse mixture of woodland, scrub and grassland in the area. There are outstanding views over the riggs and dales of Dalby and over Ryedale towards Helmsley.

Waitcliff Trail Easy Access Walk at Dalby Forest

An easy access trail following compacted stone paths and a forest road around the rim of Waitcliff high above Deepdale and Langdale Forest. This is a very flat route but short sections may be flooded in very wet weather.

When the railway came to the Esk Valley in the 1830s it transformed both life and landscape.

Walk Route: The ‘Rail Trail’ (signposted to Goathland and Beck Hole) follows the old railway line, through bluebell woods and alongside the Murk Esk.

Overdale Farm Easy Access Walk

A circular route that has a short cut if needed. Proceed down the farm road then keep straight on when the farm road turns sharp right. At the end of the track turn right to do the full circuit or left.

Runswick Bay Easy Access Walk

Take a pleasant 2-mile linear walk along the Runswick Bay clifftop to enjoy wide views over Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave.

Walk Route: The walk follows a mostly level grass/earth surface through fields along the cliff edge. There’s one kissing gate en route, and while there are some shallow steps at one point, an alternative path avoids the steps.

Old Wife's Way Easy Access Walk

Start from the Saltergate layby on the A619 opposite the Hole of Horcum. Take care for the few metres along the roadside then turn onto the track. This out and back has a few big potholes so smaller scooters might have difficulty.
