Armed Forces Day 29th June 2019 | Scarborough

Scarborough's Armed Forces Day will be celebrating it's 11th anniversary from 10:00 to 17:00 Saturday 29 June 2019. Our event is one of hundreds held across the country today, to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

South Bay will close to traffic for the event as the Foreshore, West Pier and Sandside prepares to welcome over 30,000 visitors to a FREE event which is set to be the biggest and most popular Armed Forces Day yet.

Making the event happen...

The success of the day can be attributed to many services of the Council, the Armed Forces Day Steering Group and the amazing support of volunteers who work tirelessly to make this day so special, without them this event would not be possible.

Thank you also to our main funding partner the Ministry of Defence.

We hope you will enjoy this special day and come along, enjoy the fun and say “Thank you” to our Armed Services personnel, past, present and future.

Lost Persons

We want everyone to have a great time on the day, but sometimes people can become separated. Below are a few simple rules and pieces of information to avoid getting separated and what to do if it happens:

  • The welfare point will be located opposite the Futurist theatre site, so please make sure you are familiar with its location.
  • At air events, most instances of people becoming separated from their parents happens during the flying display elements when everyone looks up! When aircraft arrive to display, please ensure your party are with you.
  • If a lost child has not been claimed by a parent, relative, or carer within 30 minutes of being found by a staff member, the police will be called.

Event Safety

There will be first aid points located within the event aream plus roaming first aiders. If you or someone you are with suffers an injury or is feeling unwell, please notify an event steward who will, in turn arrange for medical assistance.

Please check expected weather conditions before travelling, bringing appropriate suncream and fluids with you if warm temperatures are expected. There are many outlets along the seafront area also selling drinks to keep you hydrated throughout the day.

Please use the beach areas to the north and south of the main display area.

Please do not bring glass bottles or glasses to the event and help keep our beautiful seafront tidy by using bins provided.
