Armed Forces Day 29th June 2019 | Scarborough

Join us for another memorable day and ‘show your support’ to say thank you to the men and women of the British Armed Forces community that includes serving personnel and their families, veterans and the cadet forces.

Scarborough's Armed Forces Day on Saturday 29th June 2019 from 10am till 5pm. Our event is one of hundreds held across the country today, to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

In our 11th year here at Scarborough we are celebrating the Scarborough Sea Cadets Centenary! TS Scarborough have invited a contingent from Northampton Sea Cadets to join them in their celebrations and together they will have their own parade with standards that will be led by the Yorkshire Volunteers Band with the salute taken from the Dias. They will also have lots of interactive activities for you to get involved with at their display area on Sandside outside the Newcastle Packet and later in the day Scarborough and Northampton will both field teams for the Gun Run Challenge in the formal area.

Making the event happen...

The success of the day can be attributed to many services of the Council, the Armed Forces Day Steering Group and the amazing support of volunteers who work tirelessly to make this day so special, without them this event would not be possible.

We want everyone to have a great time on the day, but sometimes people can become separated. Below are a few simple rules and pieces of information to avoid getting separated and what to do if it happens:

  • The welfare point will be located opposite the Gilly's Amusements, so please make sure you are familiar with its location.
  • At air events, most instances of people becoming separated from their parents happens during the flying display elements when everyone looks up! When aircraft arrive to display, please ensure your party are with you.
  • If a lost child has not been claimed by a parent, relative, or carer within 30 minutes of being found by a staff member, the police will be called.
