Here on the Yorkshire Coast, we have some of the best beaches in the land and we think it's only fair that our canine friends get a fair share of these local privileges. For dog owners (and lovers), there is no better feeling than watching them bound, hop and leap in the sea, followed by a quick shake-off and running until their heart's content over our sweeping, sandy bays.
Nevertheless, we want our visitors and residents to enjoy the beaches too and from the 1 May - 30 September, Scarborough Borough Council have put in place a bylaw that states no person in charge of a dog (other than a trained assistance dog) will, without reasonable excuse, be allowed on certain areas of specific beaches. Please follow the link below for details on beach accessibility: https://www.scarborough.gov.uk/home/environment/dogs/dog-walking
Please note: Cayton Bay, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, Port Mulgrave, Hayburn Wyke, Kettleness, Saltwick Bay and Hunmanby Gap currently have no dog restrictions in place.
